New Media Helps Fight Child Abuse

   Child abuse is the physical, sexual, emotional mistreatment, or neglect of children. Most child abuse occurs in a child's home, with a smaller amount occurring in the organizations, schools or communities the child interacts with. To prevent child abuse many organizations use new media to spread information and get their word across not only within our country but others also. New media is very important to assist the fight against child abuse. With the use of new media people can acquire help world-wide. Also it’s a fast and easy way for the organizations to inform people about what they do and how they can help. Many organizations use websites such as YouTube, facebook, and twitter to help children around the world. An example of an organization that uses new media to assist child abuse is Prevent Child Abuse-New Jersey. They are a non-profit organization working to end child abuse. On their site they have stated:
   “Prevent Child Abuse-New Jersey is the leader not only in child abuse prevention, but in creating media for and networking with our friends and supporters. In addition to our website, here are some of the other places online that you can learn about our mission and support New Jersey's children. Each one includes step-by-step instructions on how to get involved.”
   They are one of many organizations that use their new media resources in order to help save children all around the world. With the help of new media maybe one day the Prevent Child Abuse-New Jersey can end child abuse.
